London, United KingdomRomanian-born British soprano Simona Mihai was a Jette Parker Young Artist for The Royal Opera 2008–10, singing roles including Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel), Belinda (Dido and Aeneas) and Poussette. Since leaving the Programme she has returned to sing Frasquita (Carmen), Poussette (Manon), Mimì and Musetta (La bohème) and Nedda (Pagliacci). In the 2019/20 Season she sings Mimì and Musetta. Mihai was born in Bucharest and came to the UK to study at the Royal College of Music, where she attended the Benjamin Britten International Opera School, and the European Opera Centre. She returned to the Royal College as a Rosemary Budgen Junior Fellow and as a David Bowerman Junior Fellow.
