Maestro Somtow Sucharitkul, Thailand National Artist, has curated a memorable selection of music inspired by Shakespeare’s tragedy set “in fair Verona” from Juliette’s passionate “Je veux vivre” aria in Gounod’s “Roméo et Juliette” to Tchaikovsky’s “Romeo and Juliet Overture” to the memorable theme from Zefirelli’s film to Leonard Bernstein modernisation as “West Side Story”.  In between, Shakespeare’s own words, both in the original and in the famous Thai translation by King Rama VI, will tell us the story.
The Banyan Tree concert series by Siam Sinfonietta is coming into its Fifth Season.  The concerts allow an intimate audience to enjoy great symphonic works in full scale, as they were experienced by the aristocracy in their palaces and villas in olden times.
