Fabiano Martignago e Angelica Selmo estraggono dal loro “scrigno musicale” un percorso ragionato dentro un genere come la sonata a due, che sin dalla fine del Seicento è un fertilissimo terreno di sperimentazione in cui matura una nuova concezione dello stile musicale: la scrittura a due parti. Muovendosi tra pezzi originali e trascrizioni i due giovani interpreti, già solisti affermati, si affidano ai nomi celebri di Telemann e Vivaldi, ma offrono anche le musiche rare di due compositori-esecutori entrambi approdati, partendo dall’Italia e dalla Germania, alla vita musicale inglese: Francesco Barsanti e Johann Ernst Galliard.

The Sonata a due, since the end of the 17th century, has been a highly fertile ground for experimentation, giving rise to a new conception of musical style: the two-part writing. Fabiano Martignago and Angelica Selmo extract from their “musical chest” a well-thought-out journey within a genre that reached its peak of popularity in the 18th century. Moving between original pieces and transcriptions, the two young performers, already renowned soloists, rely on the famous names of Telemann and Vivaldi. However, they also present the rare music of two composer-performers, both of whom, originating from Italy and Germany, found their way into English musical life: Francesco Barsanti and Johann Ernst Galliard.
