The opera La Traviata is one of the first lyric and psychological operas in the world opera literature - an intimate drama of tender and deep feelings. The plot of "La Traviata" is borrowed from the drama of A. Dumas-son "The Lady of the Camellias". The prototype of the heroine was the famous Parisian courtesan Marie Duplessis.

G. Verdi made the heroine of his opera a woman rejected by society, showed the nobility, spiritual beauty of Violetta, her superiority over the surrounding frivolous environment. The opera was written in 1853 and soon found a resounding success, becoming the immortal creation of its author.
