Soprano Jodie Devos responded with malice and wit to some of our questions, helped by her voice and a piano, on the occasion of her presence on several occasions at the Théâtre des Champs-Élysées in this winter of 2021/22 : - "La Vie Parisienne" by Offenbach from December 21 to January 9 - "L'Elisir d'amore" by Donizetti (in concert version) on January 15 - the "Stabat Mater" by Pergolesi (with Adèle Charvet) on 25 january

If the Stabat Materis quite authentic, unlike the multitude of apocryphal works that were attributed to Pergolesi after his death, very few details are known about its genesis. This poignant page of a musician who tragically died at the age of twenty-six gave rise to a legend comparable to that of Mozart's Requiem. Tradition has it that the composer completed it on his deathbed. The reality seems to be less "romantic". The fame of this page, abundantly edited and executed in the 18th century, contributed greatly to the posthumous glory of its author. With its arias and its duets, all of an overwhelming expressiveness, the work is constructed in the purest manner of the Italian cantata. The youth and talent of two rising singing stars, Adèle Charvet and Jodie Devos should sublimate this mythical page.

Si le Stabat Mater est bien authentique, contrairement à la multitude d’œuvres apocryphes qui furent attribuées à Pergolèse après sa mort, on connait bien peu de détails sur sa genèse. Cette page poignante d’un musicien disparu tragiquement à vingt-six ans donna lieu à une légende comparable à celle du Requiem de Mozart. La tradition voudrait que le compositeur l’ait achevée sur son lit de mort. La réalité semble être moins « romanesque ». La célébrité de cette page, abondamment éditée et exécutée au XVIIIe siècle contribua pour beaucoup à la gloire posthume de son auteur. Avec ses arias et ses duos, toute d’une expressivité bouleversante, l’œuvre est construite dans la plus pure manière de la cantate italienne. La jeunesse et le talent de deux étoiles montantes du chant, Adèle Charvet et Jodie Devos devrait sublimer cette page mythique.
