Two world premieres by Catalan authors and one of John Rutter's most monumental works make this concert one of the must-sees of the Banda Municipal season. And not only for the works but also for the participation of the soprano Carmen Solís, the Young Cor de l'Orfeó Català and the Cantiga Coral, and the Barcelona Clarinet Players, who commissioned Tanzbilder from the composer Enric Palomar . Agustí Charles' The Black Windows for voice and band is based on four stanzas from La finestra , a book of poems by Rainer Maria Rilke that was published in 1927 with illustrations by Baladine Klossowska. 

John Rutter composed this Requiem in memory of his father. The music is organized into seven movements that include texts from the Mass for the Dead and also from the Book of Common Prayer of Anglicanism. Rutter's music begins with the contrasts between darkness and light in "Requiem aeternam" and closes with the hopeful brightness of the magnificent "Lux aeterna".

Dues estrenes mundials d’autors catalans i una de les obres més monumentals de John Rutter fan d’aquest concert un dels que no cal perdre’s de la temporada de la Banda Municipal. I no només per les obres sinó també per la participació de la soprano Carmen Solís, el Jove Cor de l’Orfeó Català i la Coral Cantiga, i els Barcelona Clarinet Players, que han encarregat Tanzbilder al compositor Enric Palomar. L’obra The Black Windows, d’Agustí Charles, per a veu i banda es basa en quatre estrofes de La finestra, un llibre de poemes de Rainer Maria Rilke que es va publicar el 1927 amb il·lustracions de Baladine Klossowska. 

John Rutter va compondre aquest Rèquiem en memòria del seu pare. La música està organitzada en set moviments que inclouen textos de la missa de difunts i també del llibre de l’oració comuna de l’anglicanisme. La música de Rutter comença amb els contrastos entre foscor i lluminositat del “Requiem aeternam” i es tanca amb la brillantor esperançada del magnífic “Lux aeterna”.
