Orfeo 2.0 a baRock opera by Massimiliano Toni

Is it possible to produce Claudio Monteverdi's «Favola in Musica» in modern times and achieve the same breathtaking effect that audiences were able to experience 415 years ago? Massimiliano Toni – equally experienced in pop and old music – has written an arrangement for baroque orchestra, rock band and seven singers that contrasts the Orfeo, which premiered in Mantua in 1607, in a radically new, transcendental way. Various popular styles can be heard under the original melodies that have remained relevant to this day: rock, blues, funk, Caribbean rhythms, progressive rock, sometimes even experimental musical chaos. A special class late-night event – ​​do not miss it!
