Der Salon – ein ernsthafter Playground ambitionierter bürgerlicher Kultur. Zwei repräsentative herausragende Beispiele stehen im Mittelpunkt der Matinee: der Wiener Salon der Familie des genialen Botanikers und Naturforschers Professor Nikolaus Jacquin und der wöchentliche Treffpunkt des Kreises um den Berliner Staatsrat Staegemann. Bei Jacquins musizierte und amüsierte sich Mozarts Freundeskreis nach Herzenslust.

Die Beletage am Berliner Gendarmenmarkt war auch Treffpunkt der Jugend, die dort u. a. Theaterstücke improvisierte, dichtete und musizierte. Unter ihnen der Studiosus und später als „Dichter Schuberts“ berühmt gewordene Wilhelm Müller. So entstand das Liederspiel Rose, die schöne Müllerin („Urmüllerin“), das von Ludwig Berger, dem verdienstvollen Lehrer der Mendelssohn-Kinder Felix und Fanny vertont wurde.

Wilhelm Müller blieb dem Thema treu und veröffentlichte einige Zeit später seinen Gedichtzyklus „Die schöne Müllerin“, der Schubert 1823 – vor genau 200 Jahren – zu so unvergleichbarer Musik inspirierte. Der passende Anlass also, sich der legendären „Urmüllerin“ zu erinnern!

Das vierköpfige Sänger:innen-Ensemble, junge Publikumslieblinge der Greiner Opernbühne, findet in der Gießenbachmühle St. Nikola den passenden Rahmen für die Hebung dieses musikalischen kaum gehörten Schatzes!

The salon - a serious playground of ambitious bourgeois culture. Two representative outstanding examples are the focus of the matinee: the Viennese salon of the family of the brilliant botanist and natural scientist Professor Nikolaus Jacquin and the weekly meeting place of the circle around the Berlin State Councilor Staegemann. At Jacquin's, Mozart's circle of friends played and amused themselves to their heart's content.

The bel étage at Berlin's Gendarmenmarkt was also a meeting place for young people who, among other things, improvised plays, wrote poetry and made music there. Among them was Studiosus and Wilhelm Müller, who later became famous as “Schubert's poet”. This is how the song play Rose, the beautiful miller (“Urmüllerin”) came about, which was set to music by Ludwig Berger, the meritorious teacher of the Mendelssohn children Felix and Fanny.

Wilhelm Müller remained true to the theme and some time later published his cycle of poems Die Schöne Müllerin, which inspired Schubert to write such incomparable music in 1823 – exactly 200 years ago. The right occasion to remember the legendary "Urmüller"!
