The Athens Philharmonic Orchestra closed its performances in Greece for the year 2019 with a special musical and cultural event. On December 2, he presented for the first time, after about 140 years, the original opera by the leading Zakynthian composer  Pavlos Carrer , "Maria Antonieta". This opera was written in the 1870s and was performed only once, in Zakynthos, during the composer's life. The complete musical material of the opera has been saved in handwritten form at the " Museum of Solomos and Prominent Zakynthos ", whose Director,  Katerina Demeti , made it available to  the Greek Music Laboratory of the University of Athens. The work was musically restored and now it is possible to sound again, after almost a century and a half of silence. Carrer's very melodic and charming music was heard again in its full form and in its original orchestration! 

This is a top contribution of the Philharmonic and its people to the Culture of our homeland, a few months before the start of the official celebration of the 200 years of the Greek Revolution. The orchestra proves once again that it remains unwaveringly faithful to its main artistic goal, which is  the study and presentation of the creation of Greek composers of classical music .
