Uncontrolled jealousy sets the merry-go-round of love in motion: Belfiore injures his lover Violante in an emotional state, believes he has killed her and flees. But he's wrong.
Violante is alive and goes in search of him. Under the alias Sandrina, she hires herself out as a florist in a hotel, knowing that Belfiore will come there. After all, he is supposed to marry the niece of the hotel manager. But Belfiore and Violante aren't the only ones caught up in the entangled adventures of love. The hotel guests and employees present also get caught up in the web of expectation, hope and disappointment inherent in love.

At the age of 19, Mozart took on one of the great themes of humanity with a wink: love. In his groundbreaking work, the composer masterfully intertwines elements of serious opera seria and cheerful opera buffa, knowing that there are many varieties of this genre. Impressed by the first performance in 1775, the poet Christian Friedrich Daniel Schubart predicted: "If Mozart is not a plant grown in a greenhouse, then he must be one of the greatest musical composers who have ever lived."
