»One sees what can still be achieved with the old forms when someone comes along who knows how to use them.« This verdict on Brahms' Handel Variations op. 24 comes from Richard Wagner of all people: he asked Brahms at their only personal meeting , the composition that unites baroque and romantic formal language. For the pianist Alexandra Dovgan, who was born in 2007, the unusual work is almost tailor-made. Grigory Sokolov, amazed by her talent and original interpretations, campaigned for the musician. In 2019 she made her recital debut at the Salzburg Festival, and last year she celebrated her debut in the cycle »Piano in the Mozart Hall« in the Vienna Konzerthaus.

Für die 2007 geborene Pianistin Alexandra Dovgan ist das ungewöhnliche Werk geradezu maßgeschneidert. Grigory Sokolov, von ihrem Talent und ihren originellen Interpretationen begeistert, machte sich für die Musikerin stark. 2019 gab sie ihr Recital-Debüt bei den Salzburger Festspielen, letztes Jahr feierte sie ihren Einstand im Zyklus »Klavier im Mozart-Saal« im Wiener Konzerthaus.
