Paweł Łukaszewski uznawany jest za jednego z najważniejszych obecnie działających polskich kompozytorów. Jego twórczość wpisującą się w sakralny nurt muzyki współczesnej zestawia się m.in. z dorobkiem Arvo Pärta czy Johna Tavenera. Podczas koncertu w ramach 57. Międzynarodowego Festiwalu Wratislavia Cantans Chór NFM, NFM Filharmonia Wrocławska oraz solista Jarosław Bręk dokonają prawykonania VIII Symfonii „Hymny Banganarti” autorstwa Łukaszewskiego. Muzyków poprowadzi Norbert Twórczyński.

Zgodnie z wieloletnią tradycją w trakcie festiwalu odbywają się światowe i polskie premiery muzyczne. Podczas tegorocznej edycji po raz pierwszy zabrzmi utwór Pawła Łukaszewskiego – kompozytora, dyrygenta, a zarazem pedagoga, którego dzieła bardzo chętnie wykonywane są zarówno w kraju, jak i poza jego granicami. Podtytuł VIII Symfonii, która zabrzmi w przestrzeni katedry św. Marii Magdaleny – „Hymny Banganarti” – nawiązuje do stanowiska archeologicznego w Sudanie, położonego nieopodal brzegu Nilu, rzeki o ogromnym znaczeniu cywilizacyjnym i kulturowym. W 2001 roku dokonano tam niezwykłego odkrycia – na ścianach nubijskiej świątyni-sanktuarium poświęconej Archaniołowi Rafałowi znaleziono IX-wieczne freski oraz inskrypcje o charakterze liturgicznym, w tym posiadające wysoką wartość literacką hymny. Znacząco powiększają one kolekcję tekstów liturgicznych znanych z chrześcijańskiej Nubii, stanowią przy tym jedyne jak dotychczas źródła z tych terenów przynoszące wiedzę o celebracji Wielkiego Postu. Bezpośrednim impulsem, a zarazem inspiracją do zainteresowania się owym tematem była dla kompozytora rozmowa z wybitnym polskim archeologiem profesorem Bogdanem Żurawskim z Instytutu Kultur Śródziemnomorskich i Orientalnych Polskiej Akademii Nauk, kierownikiem Polskiej Misji Archeologicznej w Banganarti, na wschodnim brzegu Nilu, w połowie drogi między III i IV kataraktą. Prawykonanie VIII Symfonii „Hymny Banganarti” będzie więc symboliczną podróżą przybliżającą kulturę północno-wschodniej Afryki.

Paweł Łukaszewski is considered one of the most important Polish composers working today. His work, which is part of the sacral trend of contemporary music, is juxtaposed with, among others, with the achievements of Arvo Pärt and John Tavener. During the concert as part of the 57th Wratislavia Cantans International Festival, the NFM Choir, NFM Wrocław Philharmonic and soloist Jarosław Bręk will premiere the 8th Symphony "Hymny Banganarti" by Łukaszewski. The musicians will be led by Norbert Tworzyński.

In accordance with a long-standing tradition, world and Polish music premieres are held during the festival. During this year's edition, Paweł Łukaszewski's work will be performed for the first time - a composer, conductor, and at the same time a teacher, whose works are eagerly performed both in Poland and abroad. Subtitle of the Eighth Symphony, which will sound in the space of the Cathedral of St. Mary Magdalene - "Hymny Banganarti" - refers to the archaeological site in Sudan, located near the bank of the Nile, a river of great civilization and cultural importance. In 2001, an extraordinary discovery was made there - on the walls of the Nubian sanctuary dedicated to Archangel Raphael, 9th-century frescoes and liturgical inscriptions, including hymns of high literary value, were found. They significantly increase the collection of liturgical texts known from Christian Nubia, and they are the only sources from these areas so far that bring knowledge about the celebration of Lent. direct impulse, and at the same time, the inspiration for the composer to become interested in this topic was a conversation with an outstanding Polish archaeologist, Professor Bogdan Żurawski from the Institute of Mediterranean and Oriental Cultures of the Polish Academy of Sciences, head of the Polish Archaeological Mission in Banganarti, on the eastern bank of the Nile, halfway between the third and fourth cataracts.
