Ann Hallenberg is Drottningholm's Slottsteater's Artist in Residence. 
In the concert Dopo notte - After the night , she offers her baroque favourites.

Emotions swell and the waves roll. After the night, the sun finally rises.

“I am standing at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. The orchestra tunes up in Stà nell'Ircana from Handel's Alcina and I glance down at the audience from the stage. The first row is a lovely sight: well polished men's shoes, pretty pumps, boots, sneakers. And suddenly all the feet bob in time with the horns. Baroque music is immediate. It nestles into our bodies with its rhythmic beat and languid tone loops. There are big emotions and big expressions and we have to capitulate and shake our feet.”

Dopo notte, Alto Giove and Son qual nave are arias that belong to the greatest hits of the Baroque. But less than fifty years ago, they were almost completely forgotten. Who then listened to opera music by composers like Porpora, Broschi or Torri? Why has baroque music had a renaissance in our time?

Känslor svallar och vågorna rullar. Efter natten går solen äntligen upp.

”Jag står på Théâtre des Champs Elysées. Orkestern stämmer upp i Stà nell’Ircana ur Händels Alcina och jag sneglar ner på publiken från scenen. Första raden är en härlig syn: välputsade herrskor, nätta pumps, kängor, sneakers. Och plötsligt vippar alla fötter i takt med hornen. Barockmusik är omedelbar. Den nästlar sig in i våra kroppar med sitt rytmiska beat och sina smäktande tonslingor. Det är stora känslor och stora uttryck och vi måste kapitulera och vippa med fötterna.”
