A famous French composer, Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921), the composer of great operas, symphonies and organ works, wrote a humorous musical suite for two pianos and orchestra, titled The Carnival of the Animals. It tells the story of a lion, the king of the animals, invites his subjects to a huge carnival ball. Parts of the music describe these animals, very neatly and full of humor. For example, the listener can hear the braying of the donkey and the clucking of the hens, and the music also recognizably depicts silent animals, such as fish and turtles. Among the participants of the ball are guests who are not animals, such as fossils. The most peculiar is the movement ’The Pianists’. After the introduction of the individual characters, the last movement of the work features a fast and cheerful dance music, in which all the characters who have been introduced one by one appear; scarcely but still clearly recognizable.

Egy híres francia zeneszerző, Camille Saint-Saëns (1835-1921) nagy operák, szimfóniák, orgonaművek szerzője írt egy vidám zeneművet ezzel a címmel: Az állatok farsangja, két zongorára és zenekarra. A képzeletbeli történet arról szól, hogy az oroszlán, az állatok királya egy nagy farsangi bálra hívja meg alattvalóit. A zenemű egyes részei ezeket az állatokat jellemzik, nagyon találóan és sok humorral. Hallani lehet például a szamár iá-zását, a tyúkok kotkodácsolását, de felismerhetően ábrázolja a zene a hangtalan állatokat, például a halakat és a teknősbékát is. A nagy „buli” résztvevői között olyan vendégek is vannak, akik nem is állatok, például az őskövületek, sőt a legkülönösebb a Zongoristák című tétel. Az egyes szereplők bemutatása után, a mű utolsó tételében gyors és vidám tánczenét hallunk, amelyben szinte eldugva, de azért felismerhetően megjelennek mindazok a szereplők, akik előzőleg egyenként bemutatkoztak.
