Trois trios de trois époques, suivant un fil musical ininterrompu… C’est ainsi que le génie de Robert Schumann rend hommage au trio clarinette, alto, piano imaginé plus tôt et pour la première fois dans l’histoire de la musique par Mozart dans Kegelstatt (trio « Les Quilles »). Schumann nomme son trio Märchenerzählungen (littéralement « contes de fées ») et semble atteindre ici son idéal romantique dans une poésie sans mots. Les références à cette œuvre ne manquent pas dans Hommage à Robert Schumann de György Kurtag, trio de six pièces courtes, tandis que Bruno Mantovani alors pensionnaire de la Villa Médicis – Académie de France à Rome – imagine et compose en 2005 Da Roma pour cette même formation. Dans un geste continu et grâce aux Quatre Pièces op.5 d’Alban Berg, ce concert de musique de chambre rend aussi un subtil hommage à la clarinette, qui de Mozart à Berg et « de Vienne à Vienne » confirme son succès à travers les âges.

Three trios from three eras, following an uninterrupted musical thread... This is how the genius of Robert Schumann pays homage to the clarinet, viola, piano trio imagined earlier and for the first time in the history of music by Mozart in Kegelstatt (“Les Quilles” trio). Schumann calls his trio Märchenerzählungen (literally “fairy tales”) and seems to reach his romantic ideal here in a poetry without words. References to this work are not lacking in Homage to Robert Schumann by György Kurtag, a trio of six short pieces, while Bruno Mantovani, then a resident of the Villa Medici – French Academy in Rome – imagined and composed Da Roma in 2005for this same training. In a continuous gesture and thanks to the Four Pieces op.5 by Alban Berg, this chamber music concert also pays a subtle tribute to the clarinet, which from Mozart to Berg and "from Vienna to Vienna" confirms its success through the ages.
